Madonna promotes movie while critics miss the point

madonna & mikeShe might be known worldwide as the Material Girl, but there's more than a little of the small-town Michigan girl left in Madonna. The pop superstar arrived in this northern Michigan resort town Saturday to introduce her documentary, "I Am Because We Are," a highlight of the Traverse City Film Festival. The event was co-founded by filmmaker, author and fellow Michigan native Michael Moore.

Hundreds of fans cheered from behind barricades as Madonna, wearing a black dress, high heels and sunglasses, stepped out of a black sport utility vehicle that pulled up in front of the State Theatre. She hugged a waiting Moore, who sported an orange baseball cap, and posed for photos with him.
Madonna and Moore shared the stage at the theater before a screening of the movie, which deals with the orphans of Malawi, the African nation where she and husband Guy Ritchie adopted a son.

"It's great bringing my movie to a place that I feel familiar," Madonna told the audience. "Not like the Cannes Film Festival, where nobody's speaking English, or the Tribeca Film Festival, where no one sits down.

"There's something poetic about coming back to the place where I used to come for holidays - camping trips with my dad and stepmother and my very large family," said the 49-year-old singer, born to the southeast in Bay City and raised in the Detroit suburb of Rochester Hills.

we took you into our arms and then left you cold
britney im sorry for this cruel cruel world
we sell the beauty but destroy the girl
britney im sorry for your broken heart
we stood aside and watched you fall apart
im sorry we told you fame would fill you up
and money moves the man so drink the cup

Madonna to be in Timberlands new album and more movies

madonnaA string of superstars have been enlisted to collaborate with super-producer Timbaland on his forthcoming album ‘Shock Value 2’. Madonna, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Rihanna and T-Pain will all collaborate with Timba on the release, which he likens to a ‘Now [That's What I Call Music!]’ compilation. According to MTV.com, Timbaland said "That's my goal for this-- not [to showcase] me as an artist. Of course I'll do my little part, introduce some people. It gives me room to go tour across the world. People request me. I put on a show. I put on a musical show." Timbaland worked with Madonna on her current ‘Hard Candy’ album and according to Pitchfork, the sought-after producer is set to produce Chris Cornell’s new solo album, and is lined-up to work on Jay-Z’s new record.

IT SEEMS to be happening to everyone at the moment: Prince, Michael Jackson, Sharon Stone and Paddington Bear are all turning 50 this year, with Madonna also blowing out her birthday cake candles next month. Indeed, the Material Girl appears to be making the most of breaching that not so fashionable threshold of 50 by kicking off a world tour.  But then, the birthday celebrations already appear to have been under way for the Michigan-born Queen of Pop, who started out life as Louise Veronica Ciccone with early ambitions to be a dancer and to find the fastest exit out of smalltown America. This year she parted company with her record company, Warner Brothers, to sign a ground-breaking deal with concert promoters Live Nation, her latest album, Hard Candy, hit the number one spot in 37 countries and she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

No more Sam Lufti and Jamie Spears still in Britneys life

Attorneys for Spears and her father James are expected to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom Thursday morning to give an update on the conservatorship. A hearing on a temporary restraining order barring Lutfi from having contact with the pop singer was also scheduled for Thursday. The order issued earlier this year required Lutfi to stay 250 yards away from Spears or her homes.

Lutfi represented one of the strangest twists in Spears' downward spiral earlier this year. The singer’s mother accused Lutfi-who described himself as a friend and sometime manager-in court papers of keeping Spears a hostage in her own home, drugging her and taking over her finances.

A phone message left on Lutfi's cell phone was not immediately returned Wednesday evening. His publicist did not have an immediate comment when contacted by e-mail.

Lutfi was a fixture in Spears’ life during a period when the star exhibited erratic behavior, including being photographed without underwear, shaving her head and occasionally looking dazed in public.

That power negates the need for a restraining order against Lutfi since James Spears’ role as conservator allows him to decide who sees his daughter, according to Ingham’s statement. He serves as a court-appointed counsel representing Spears' interest in the ongoing conservatorship case. "During the temporary conservatorship, the conservators have the power to insure that Lutfi will not harm Britney anymore," Ingham wrote.

Thursday's hearing had originally been scheduled to decide whether the conservatorship should be made permanent, but Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz decided weeks ago that she would instead consider other issues.

“It is what it is… I am who I am. And I love where I’m at!

In his first public appearance since he was granted sole custody of his two sons with Britney Spears earlier this month, Kevin Federline hit the links Tuesday.

Asked how he is doing these days, the single dad told PEOPLE: “Been having a good summer, I can’t complain.”

Federline, 30, who spoke to PEOPLE at skateboarder Ryan Sheckler’s X Games Celebrity Skins Classic, outside L.A., said he’s been balancing career and parenting. “I’ve worked here and there a little bit,” he said. “Definitely staying at home with the family.”

As for how sons Jayden, 1 1/2, and Preston, 2 1/2, are doing, Federline said, “They’re good.”

He was tight-lipped, however, when it came to Spears or how he’s moved on from their court battle. A July 18 agreement ended the nearly two-year case, with Federline retaining sole custody of the boys, and his spousal support being bumped up to $20,000 from $15,000.

“I’m not here to talk about that,” he said.

In My Arms

inmyarms"In My Arms" is a dance-pop song performed by Australian singer Kylie Minogue for her tenth studio album, X (2007). The song was written by Minogue, Paul Harris, Julian Peake, Richard Stannard, Adam Wiles and produced by Stannard and Calvin Harris. The song was released as the album's first single in Spain in November 2007, second in Europe single in February 2008, and third in UK and Australia on May 5th, 2008.

"In My Arms" received mostly positive reviews from pop music critics. Tom Ewing in a review for Pitchfork Media compared the song to French electronic music duo Justice and wrote that Minogue "bounces around the tune with gusto". Prefix Magazine reviewer Bruce Scott described it as "fuzzed-out" and "synth heavy", and wrote that it was "full of the kind of exuberant charm that made a track like "Love at First Sight" a past hit". In a review for Allmusic, Christopher True was not impressed with "In My Arms" and called the song "cold, calculated dance-pop".
